Office of People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) - Front Door Process (for intake)
The New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) coordinates and provides services for people (children and adults) with developmental disabilities and conducts research into the causes and prevention of developmental disabilities. OPWDD provides access to services through a regional system dividing the state into DDSOs. OPWDD certifies and regulates more than 700 nonprofit providers who deliver direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities. These providers offer a wide variety of services and supports for our students and families, such as: service coordination, family support, housing, supported employment, recreation, training, respite, nursing services etc.

Adult Career and Continuing Education Services (ACCES-VR)
Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) ACCES-VR may be appropriate for students with physical, developmental, or emotional disabilities whose disability may prevent them from working or make work more challenging, and students capable of working with additional training or education. This service is available for both students with an IEP or with a 504 plan. Students typically apply to ACCES_VR during their junior year and, if accepted, they will meet with their ACCES-VR worker at their high school during their senior year.
